„The transition to low-carbon production should be carried out gradually, taking into account technological possibilities and socio-economic consequences“, said the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov, during the forum "The need for a National Plan for a just transition".

During the forum, Deputy Minister Pavlov emphasized that the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Ministry of Finance have prepared a general socio-economic analysis of the effects of the implementation of the European Green Deal in Bulgaria with outlined regions and economic activities and sectors. who will be most affected by the changes ahead. "The results of the analysis showed that different economic activities require different measures to make the ambitious green transition. Technological changes and innovative solutions require targeted investments, which must be implemented step by step, and their effect will manifest itself after a certain period of time," added Deputy Minister Pavlov.

Deputy Minister Pavlov added that setting new requirements sometimes creates uncertainty for businesses and causes fears of unforeseen risks. "A predictable and stable regulatory environment is important for planning the future development of enterprises, and the objectives of the green deal also change the horizon for planning and making investments," he said.

The Deputy Minister of Economy emphasized that the Green Deal will have an impact on energy-intensive industries, which have a significant share in the structure of the Bulgarian economy. These industries are an important part of the value chain with implications for many other sectors. "Many of the regions in which they are located, the enterprises from the energy-intensive industries are structurally determining and have an essential importance for socio-economic development," he emphasized.
