The Total Producer Price Index in Industry, which can be used as an early measure of the current inflation process, continued to decline steadily on a monthly basis from January to May, and on an annual basis, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on Friday, 30 June.
The Total Producer Price Index in Industry decreased by 2.9% in May 2023 compared to the previous month. Lower prices were registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 4.4%, in the manufacturing by 2.4%, and in the mining and quarrying industry by 2.2%.
The Total Producer Price Index went down by 6.7% in May 2023 compared to the same month in 2022. Prices fell in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 19.4%, in the mining and quarrying industry by 4.4%, and in the manufacturing by 1.5%.
