The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has already become a partner in the European project "Table Soccer at School"
The Chamber is collaborating on the project with the International Table Soccer Federation, Camilo José Cela University in Madrid, and a German NGO focused on the social inclusion of children in sports activities.
The first meeting of the team for the "Table Soccer аt School" project under the Erasmus+ program took place in Madrid last week. The main objective of the meeting was familiarization with the partner organizations and preparation for the upcoming joint activities. The project aims to promote the physical activities and integration through sport in secondary schools via table soccer.
Sport plays a key role in promoting inclusion and diversity across Europe. Through sports clubs and local initiatives, the amateur physical activity creates spaces where individuals from different backgrounds can come together, share experiences, and build connections beyond cultural or socio-economic differences.
In school practice, sport provides opportunities for people of all abilities, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic status to engage and collaborate in achieving common goals. Moreover, these initiatives often extend beyond the playing field, promote friendships and support groups that strengthen social cohesion, and contribute to the well-being of the community.
In the "Mapping Good Practices Related to the Social Inclusion of Migrants through Sport," the European Commission emphasizes that "sport can be a valuable tool for supporting social inclusion. Although it cannot be seen as a cure for all problems, there are projects that use sport as a link to engage people in activities that provide educational outcomes, or sport can be seen as a means through which certain skills (teamwork, self-esteem, and others) are taught."
The "Table Soccer At School" project aims to identify successful practices related to playing table soccer in schools. Subsequently, a program for practicing the sport in schools will be developed and implemented at the local level in schools in France, Bulgaria, Germany, and Spain. Table soccer will also be aimed also at children with disadvantaged backgrounds, thus having an impact on people with fewer opportunities.
The project is co-funded by the EU. Stay tuned for additional information on the activities related to its implementation.
