The awards for Bulgaria’s most successful commercial attachés were bestowed

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the Ministry of Economy, presented for the 10th consecutive time the awards for the most successful commercial attachés (Commercial and Economic Sections of Bulgaria abroad). The event was held online with the participation of the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, and experts of the Ministry and the Chamber.

The current BCCI ranking, developed jointly with the Ministry of Economy, is for 2020 and was prepared on the basis of objective criteria - an increase of Bulgarian exports in the respective country and attracted foreign investment in Bulgaria. The results of a survey held among BCCI’s members regarding their satisfaction with the work of the Commercial and Economic Sections were also taken into account.

The first prize – “Hermes” bronze statuette and a Diploma, went to Bulgaria’s Commercial and Economic Section in Germany for services to the development of trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Germany, for contribution to increasing Bulgarian exports abroad and foreign investment in Bulgaria, as well as for achieving BCCI’s goals and objectives. The second place went to the Commercial and Economic Section in Austria, and the third – to the Commercial and Economic Section in the Netherlands. The commercial attachés in the Republic of North Macedonia, Italy and Hungary also received special prizes.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov described the ranking as timely, because along with the "awakening" of business after the crisis, it is necessary to activate the work of our commercial attachés. He shared that it is no coincidence that the leaders in the ranking are Commercial and Economic Sections in European countries.

In connection with the results of the ranking, Minister Petkov announced that as a result of the work of our commercial attachés, 602 letters were sent to the Ministry of Economy from foreign companies with the intention of investment and cooperation and the letters are expected to become real deals soon. He pointed out that these are letters only for the last 5 weeks and explained that 129 letters are with direct intentions for investments, 218 are with interest for investments, and 255 are for cooperation and thanks. They are in the field of production of medical devices, carbon dioxide capture systems, electricity storage solutions, high-tech companies manufacturing products in the field of space industry, etc. The Invest Bulgaria Agency will work for the practical realization of the stated intentions of foreign companies and investors.
