The newly appointed Ambassador of India to Sofia, H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Sahu, met with the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. This meeting took place just days after Ambassador Sahu officially assumed his duties on January 7, 2025.
During the meeting, the potential for enhancing the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and India was discussed.
Tsvetan Simeonov acquainted the guest with BCCI's activities and its regional structure. He emphasized the good cooperation with the Embassy of India in Sofia and the Indian-Bulgarian Business Chamber, highlighting the joint initiatives carried out over the past year.
The discussion covered potential sectors of mutual interest, including tourism, wine production, and others. Future initiatives were also discussed, such as showcasing India's tourism opportunities. Simeonov shared that BCCI has successfully organized exhibitions of Indian goods in Sofia, Varna, and Burgas, and expressed hope that this partnership would continue in the future.
The discussion also covered topics such as the import of labor from India, as well as the procedures for issuing both long-term and short-term visas.
Simeonov thanked Ambassador Sahu for placing emphasis on the economic relations between Bulgaria and India and expressed BCCI's readiness to provide support during his tenure in Sofia.
