BCCI President met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Bulgaria



H.E. Mr Elvis Antonio Alam, a newly appointed Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in the Republic of Bulgaria, located in Ankara, Turkey, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with its President Tsvetan Simeonov. The meeting was also attended by Mr Rocio Patricia Fernandez Jimenez, Counselor at the Embassy, Mr Todor Tabakov, Vice President of BCCI and Lawyer Petar Iliev.

Mr Tsvetan Simeonov presented the history and activities of BCCI, the regional structure and the services provided by the Chamber to the benefit of the business. He outlined and presented the economic situation in our country, putting an emphasis on the tax system and macroeconomic indicators of Bulgaria.

H.E. Elvis Alam gave information on the current economic situation in the Dominican Republic and shared his ideas for making the bilateral trade and economic relationships with Bulgaria more active.

Mr Simeonov highlighted the fact that it is necessary to expand the information flow among the institutions with the purpose of promoting potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. The sectors with potential for cooperation were discussed, including: tourism, agriculture and the food and drink industry, among others.

Ambassador Alam shared that there are already direct charter flights from Sofia to the Dominican Republic which makes the remote Caribbean destination even more attractive to Bulgarian tourists.

Tsvetan Simeonov expressed BCCI's readiness to organise a promotional event of the country among the Bulgarian businesses, as well as to meet and welcome a delegation from the Dominican Republic.
