Joint initiatives have been agreed with the new Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office in Beijing


Slav Karaslavov, the newly appointed Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office (TEAO) of Bulgaria in Beijing, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

President Tsvetan Simeonov talked with the guest and outlined the forms of cooperation between the Chamber and similar organisations in China. He underlined the excellent relations with the diplomatic missions in both countries. Mr Simeonov announced the sequence of initiatives, which mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China and also include the visit, arranged by BCCI together with the Embassy of China in Sofia, with the purpose of training representatives and partners of the Chamber in the period from 28 August to 13 September in the towns of Fuzhou and Beijing.

Additionally, this year will witness a special high-level visit of representatives of institutions and organisations, related to the development of the bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China. It is intended that the visit will also include high-level meetings with state institutions, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, sectoral associations and companies, and it is also intended to hold an official ceremony closing the training. Simeonov and Karaslavov discussed the possibility of including the Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing in the initiative.

The new TEAO in Beijing acquainted with the structure and functions of BCCI as a business and employers' organisation. A constant exchange of information was agreed in favour of the companies with mutual interests from both countries.
