The Commercial Association of Bahia, Brazil, is looking for new partnerships in Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a meeting between the President Tsvetan Simeonov, Zilan da Costa e Silva Moura, representative of the Commercial Association of Bahia, Brazil, and Andrey Delchev, arbitrator at the Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Silva introduced the Commercial Association of Bahia, a state in Northeast Brazil, which has existed since 1811. It is the oldest business organization in Latin America, with the oldest arbitration court.

The guest from Brazil shared that he had come to Bulgaria to investigate the possibilities of finding new partnerships. He pointed out that the main city of the state, Salvador, was situated on the Atlantic coast and its port provided opportunities to the regional business to maintain very good contacts with all major economies in the world. Some of the major branches are industry, agriculture, chemicals, ICT, light industry, maritime industry and tourism. The region is the main supplier of cotton, sugar, coconuts, cocoa, soybeans, corn, other legumes, cassava, melon, papaya, mango, bananas, guarana and other exotic plants.

Simeonov, on his part, introduced the BCCI and outlined the corresponding characteristics in the development and functioning of the two business organizations. The two parties agreed that the exchange of business visits and delegations was to be enhanced, with the last Bulgarian business mission of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to Brazil, being organised in 2016. Cooperation in the field of commercial arbitration was also discussed.

BCCI and the Commercial Association of Bahia shall take the necessary steps to intensify the partnership. Bulgarian companies, interested in finding Brazilian partners for cooperation, can contact BCCI, Directorate of International Cooperation, e- mail: interdpt@bcci.bg .
