Gopinathan Tanikudi, Regional Representative of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and met with its President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. Krasimir Dachev, Vice President of the BCCI, Petar Kurumbashev, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Bulgaria, and architect Yoana Petrova also attended the meeting.
Mr. Tanikudi, situated in Rotterdam and responsible for the EU region, presented the activities of the Board. Malaysia exports tropical timber to more than 170 countries worldwide. The main types of wood include mango, teak, and amaranth. Member companies of the Board have extensive experience in the furniture industry, with some of them already importing their products to Bulgaria.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize an exhibition with bilateral meetings in Sofia in the near future, featuring companies from Malaysia’s furniture and timber processing industries. The exact dates for the event are yet to be determined.
