The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry are setting up a joint business council. More than 20 companies from Bulgaria are interested in participating in the work of the council, whose main goal is to strengthen the bilateral economic relations. This became clear during a virtual event organized by the two chambers with the active participation of the Embassy of Pakistan in Sofia.
H.E. Mariam Aftab, Ambassador of Pakistan to Bulgaria, shared the opinion that the modest trade between Bulgaria and Pakistan needs to be promoted as there is long-term cooperation between the two countries /the diplomatic relations date back to 1965/ and there is interest from companies. Nearly 90 participants from both countries took part in the event. They presented their business offers in various areas and products.
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov stressed that Bulgaria is a country of opportunities, because it provides access to the EU market, favourable conditions for doing business and excellent contacts with neighboring and more distant countries on the Silk Road. The Pakistani market has a large capacity with a population of over 216 million people and a growing middle class with great consumer opportunities.
During the event, the two chambers signed an agreement to establish a joint business council in which companies from Bulgaria and Pakistan will participate. They also agreed to organize a series of virtual events for the business in various sectors, as well as possible virtual exhibitions.
In a presentation, the Invest Bulgaria Agency outlined the characteristics of the Bulgarian economic environment and the conditions for doing business. Partners from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan also presented the strengths of the country’s economy, as well as an overview of the leading products in bilateral trade and outlined the goods with potential for inclusion in it.
