Activity and condition of accommodation establishments during the state of emergency in August 2021
The National Statistical Institute conducts monthly short survey among the managers of accommodation establishments to gather accurate and timely information on the state and development of their businesses during the ensuing epidemic situation in the country. In August, 50.1% of the respondents offered their clients an alternative period to use their reservations, 56.9% had intended to reduce the price of the package services, and 42.5% - price of the nights spent.
With regard to the employees, 14.0% of the managers took as a measure “paid leave”, 10.7% - “release/reduction”, and 5.7% - “unpaid leave”. 3.3% of the managers benefited from “part-time work”, 2.1% took the measure “reduction of staff remuneration”, and 1.7% - from “remote form of work”. At the same time, 10.1% of the accommodation establishments have benefited from the government measures to support employers.
In August 53.9% of the surveyed managers indicated that there was no change of revenues from their activity compared to the previous month, and 29.9% reported an increase.
In the next one month 43.6% of the managers predict that they will be able to serve “Up to 100%” of the expenditures of own account activity, 36.7% - that they will succeed “Up to 50%”, and 19.3% of respondents indicate that they will not be able to handle them on their own.
As regards their future activity in the short term, 42.3% of the managers plan to continue their current activity, 32.8% - to continue with their activities, with reduced volume, 20.5% foresee to suspend activity temporarily, and 3.1% predict to discontinue it.
