BCCI supports the position of EUROCHAMBRES for economic growth through jobs creation
The Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Eurochambres) expressed its content with the EU Summit conclusions on growth and jobs, adopted at the last EU Summit meeting held on 30 January this year in Brussels. The adopted measures suggest that European governments are finally prepared to instigate reforms.
The proposal to use the EU budget to leverage European Investment Bank financing capacity and thus enhance the capacity of banks to lend to small businesses is in line with an ongoing Eurochambres-led initiative to establish a European Central Guarantee Fund for loans and equity, and should provide relief to businesses in the short term.
Eurochambres urges leaders not to lose sight of long-term policy objectives. Vocational education and training must be recognized as a key tool for tackling youth unemployment and bridging the skills gap. In this respect, the focus on apprenticeships and traineeships, with EU funds to be re-directed to this key area, is seen as critical.
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a long-standing member of Eurochambres, fully supports the position of the European organization in relation to increasing workers and employees’ qualification and encouraging youth employment. BCCI has announced on many occasions that one of the most serious problems faced by Bulgarian companies in recent years is the lack of qualified experts and professionals, competent in their field of activity. The only way to bridge this gap is to encourage the educated youths to participate in apprenticeships and traineeships, so that they receive practical knowledge and their education does not remain “on paper” only.
