New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in 2024 up 13.8% y/y


There were 42 491 new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in 2024, an increase of 13.8 per cent compared with 2023, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, ACEA, said on January 21.

Of the new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January-December 2024, a total of 32 818 were petrol cars, 6986 diesel, 1665 battery-electric, 1005 hybrid-electric and 467 plug-in hybrid.

ACEA said that in 2024, new car registrations in the EU rose slightly, increasing by 0.8 per cent to around 10.6 million units.

Spain continued to show resilience with a solid 7.1 per cent growth rate.

In contrast, declines were observed in France (-3.2 per cent), Germany (-1 per cent), and Italy, with a slight drop of 0.5 per cent.

In December 2024, new EU car registrations rose by 5.1 per cent.

Spain led the way with a robust double-digit 28.8 per cent increase, followed by France with a modest 1.5 per cent rise. However, among the four largest EU markets, declines were observed in Germany (-7.1 per cent) and Italy (-4.9 per cent).
