Meeting with the new Bulgarian Ambassador in Chișinău - Maya Dobreva



The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov held a meeting with the new Ambassador of Bulgaria to Chișinău, Moldova – Maya Dobreva.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry informed his guest about the Chamber's relations with partners from Moldova – bilaterally with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova and on a multilateral level - based on the membership with The BSEC Business council. Another focus of the discussions were the initiatives and activities carried out in Moldova in recent years, including the presentation "Food and drinks from sunny Bulgaria", organized by STIV- Chișinău in 2019.

Leading commodity groups for imports from Moldova to Bulgaria were discussed during the meeting, including the sunflower seeds; sunflower, safflower and cottonseed oil; pellets, wires, cables and other insulated electric wires. According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria, the import of sunflower seeds from Moldova has increased significantly, by over 225% for 2022, compared to the same period of the previous year. Trade with Moldova is based on the Association Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, which has been fully in force since 2016 and provides for free trade.

Tsvetan Simeonov, as chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Employers' Organizations for 2023, served the new Ambassador with the priorities of the AOBE for 2023.

Maya Dobreva expressed her willingness and aptness to work for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Moldova during her mission in Chișinău.
