H.E. Petko Doykov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Serbia, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and spoke with President Tsvetan Simeonov. The development of trade and economic relations between both countries and finding ways to gradually increase bilateral trade were in the focus of discussion.
In this regard, it was agreed that the experts of the Embassy and the Chamber will jointly prepare and organize a visit of a Bulgarian business delegation to Serbia, in the Bosilegrad and Nis region, next month. The visit will be accompanied by a bilateral business forum. BCCI will additionally inform the interested Bulgarian companies and organizations about the exact dates of the delegation and the conditions for participation.
According to information from the Ministry of Economy and Industry, based on data for the relevant periods of 2021 and 2020, the following trends are observed:
- growth in trade of 35.9%;
- increase in exports of 50.0%;
- growth in imports of 24.5%;
- the trade balance is negative for Bulgaria and amounts to EUR 22.4 million.
Currently, the commercial relations between Bulgaria and Serbia are regulated by the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) between the EU and the Republic of Serbia, signed in 2013.
