The National Assembly has formally elected Kiril Petkov as Bulgaria's next Prime Minister. Lawmakers approved the proposed structure of the Council of Ministers and elected members of the new government.
134 MPs supported Kiril Petkov's nomination, while 104 voted against it.
Lawmakers voted 134-104 to approve the new Cabinet. It features five deputy prime ministers. This is the line-up: Asen Vasilev will be Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Finance Minister; Kalina Konstantinova will be Deputy Prime Minister for Effective Government; Korneliya Ninova becomes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Industry; Grozdan Karadjov was designated for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works; Borislav Sandov will be Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water.
The Ministry of Interior will be headed by Boyko Rashkov; Teodora Genchovska will be Minister of Foreign Affairs; Georgi Gyokov will be Minister of Labour and Social Policy;
Stefan Yanev will be Minister of Defence; Nadezhda Yordanova becomes Minister of Justice; and Nikolay Denkov — Minister of Education and Science. Assena Serbezova was elected Minister of Health; Atanas Atanasov becomes Minister of Culture; Ivan Ivanov will be the new Minister of Agriculture; Nikolay Sabev will be Minister of Transport and Communications; Daniel Lorer will be in charge of the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Bozhidar Bozhanov will be the new Minister of e-Government; Alexander Nikolov will be Minister of Energy, Hristo Prodanov will be in charge of the Ministry of Tourism; and the Ministry of Sports will be headed by Radostin Vasilev.
The newly elected Council of Ministers took the oath of office before the National Assembly.
