The Kyustendil Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Thracian University signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The Rector of the University - prof. Dobri Yarkov and the President of the Chamber - Vanyo Kostadinov put their signatures to the document. The Memorandum stipulates the promotion of cooperation between the two organisations when developing joint projects, exchanging good practices, creating networks for sustainable cooperation, mutual support for the preparation of seminars, conferences, working groups, etc.

Prof. Darina Zaimova - Deputy Rector of Research and International Activities took part in the working visit, together with Dr Zdravko Todorov - General Manager of the University, Oleg Stoilov - President of the Stara Zagora Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Yordan Belovodski, Secretary General of KCCI.

Within the framework of the meeting, the representatives of the two partner institutions expressed their firm conviction that the collaborative work, the exchange of good practices and know-how and the participation in shared initiatives will be of benefit to both organisations. During the visit, the guests went around and saw with interest the modern Academic Information Centre of the University; they were impressed by the possibilities for organising events, differing in size and nature there.

The opportunities, provided by the Branch University in Kyustendil, were also discussed. In this regard, the two parties came to an arrangement for joint actions when looking for suitable material and technical facilities in the town and in the region, including production facilities for internship to ensure training in subjects, which the business is seeking locally.

Professor Yarkov readily accepted the invitation, sent by the President of the Kyustendil Chamber, to implement this first joint initiative in the short term, which will  contribute to increasing significantly the number of students and expanding the scope of the training, provided to qualified personnel for business and administration, which takes into account the specifics of the local and regional economy.

The visit ended with going to the Museum of the Horse and Equestrian Sport, emblematic of the higher education institution of Stara Zagora.
