InvestBulgaria Agency announced the investment of worldwide automobile supplier, which will set up a modern assembly facility in Pleven.
Elektrokabel Bulgaria, a supplier of the globally active Nexans Autoelectric Group, will produce cable harnesses for leading automobile manufacturers of Europe in Pleven as of the end of 2014.
Assisted by Invest Bulgaria, the company concluded all necessary contracts at the end of 2013, and will erect a modern assembly facility of 5,000 sqm within the course of the year. All-in-all, Elektrokabel Bulgaria is planning to invest several million euros in the new plant.
Under the direction of a building contractor from the region of Pleven, the necessary work will be started already this spring so that the company can presumably move in at the end of the year. At full capacity, the plant will have space for about 600 employees in the fields of production, administration, logistics, quality assurance and process engineering.
The renowned automobile supplier Nexans autoelectric, based in Southern Germany, had checked out several options in various Eastern European countries last year, and decided in favor of the region of Pleven after an extensive analysis of the location factors. The good infrastructure, the excellent labor market and the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union were specifically decisive.
"In choosing the location, we have taken our time for an in-depth analysis, and we are confident that we will be able to supply our customers already with high-quality products by the end of 2014," commented the responsible project manager, Michael Kroop, regarding the successful conclusion of the negotiations.
Nexans autoelectric develops and produces cabling systems and electro-mechanical components for conventionally-powered vehicles as well as for E and hybrid vehicles. With almost 7,000 employees in 23 locations, the group of companies supplies leading automobile and systems manufacturers around the globe.
