Honorary Diploma of BCCI for Dimitrios Maos, First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Embassy of the Hellenic Republic


The First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Sofia Dimitrios Maos visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a meeting with its President Tsvetan Simeonov.

It was a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country. After five years of successful cooperation, the president Tsvetan Simeonov awarded the First secretary with an honorary diploma. He expressed his thanks for the efforts made for the development and enhancement of the bilateral economic relations. Maos pointed out that in his opinion it was a peak period for bilateral trade exchange, with a growth of 32.5% in 2022 compared to 2021. In addition, Maos indicated, the two countries had developed numerous joint projects in various economic fields and some of them became a focal point of the talks during Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov's visit to Athens this week.

The guest also advised on strengthening the progress of bilateral economic relations. He communicated that there were sectors with strong, unrealized potential, the IT sectors being the most conceivable. Fintech societies in both countries are developing very quickly and have common interests and goals. Maos confirmed that the ICT sector will be the focus of Bulgarian participation as a partner country in the next edition of the Thessaloniki International Fair /9-17 September 2023/.
