Consumer price index (CPI)
The consumer price index in June 2013 compared to May 2013 was 99.6%, i.e. the monthly inflation was -0.4%. The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (June 2013 compared to December 2012) had been-1.1% and the annual inflation in June 2013 compared to June 2012 was 2.6%.
The annual average inflation, measured by CPI, in the last 12 months (July 2012 -June 2013) compared to the previous 12 months (July 2011 -June 2012) was 3.5%.
In June 2013 compared to the previous month the prices of goods and services in the main consumer groups changed as follows:
• Food and non-alcoholic beverages - a decrease of 1.2%;
• Alcoholic beverages and tobacco -the prices remained at the level of the previous month;
• Clothing and footwear - a decrease of 0.2%;
• Housing (rentals, maintenance and repair), water, electricity, gas and other fuels - a decrease
of 0.2%;
• Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house - the prices remained at the level of the
revious month;
• Health - a decrease of 0.1%;
• Transport - a decrease of 0.7%;
• Communications - a decrease of 0.4%;
• Recreation and culture - an increase of 2.6%;
• Education -the prices remained at the level of the previous month;
• Restaurants and hotels - an increase of 0.4%;
• Miscellaneous goods and service - a decrease of 0.2%.
Harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP)
The harmonized index of consumer prices in June 2013 compared to May 2013 was 99.7%, i.e. the monthly inflation was -0.3%. The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (June 2013 compared to December 2012) had been -0.8% and the annual inflation in June 2013 compared to June 2012 was 1.2%.
The annual average inflation, measured by HICP, in the last 12 months (July 2012 - June 2013) compared to the
revious 12 months (July 2011 -June 2012) was 2.3%.
In terms of HICP in June 2013 compared to the previous month the prices of goods and services in the main consumer groups changed as follows:
• Food and non-alcoholic beverages - a decrease of 1.0%;
• Alcoholic beverages and tobacco - a decrease of 0.1%;
• Clothing and footwear - a decrease of 0.1%;
• Housing (rentals, maintenance and repair), water, electricity, gas and other fuels - a decrease
of 0.1%;
• Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house - the prices remained
at the level of the previous month;
• Health - a decrease of 0.1%;
• Transport - a decrease of 0.7%;
• Communications - a decrease of 0.4%;
• Recreation and culture - an increase of 1.5%;
• Education -the prices remained at the level of the previous month;
• Restaurants and hotels - an increase of 0.5%;
• Miscellaneous goods and service - a decrease of 0.1%.
Price index of a small basket (PISB)
The price index of a small basket in June 2013 compared to May 2013 was 98.9% and the overall decrease since the beginning of the year (June 2013 compared to December 2012) had been 98.5%.
In June compared to the previous month the prices of goods and services in the small basket for the 20% households
ith the lowest income, changed as follows:
• Food products - a decrease of 1.7%;
• Non-food products - a decrease of 0.2%;
• Services - the prices remained at the level of the previous month.
