A Dobroslavtsi state-owned industrial zone has been established some 15 km from Sofia by a decision of the caretaker government, Innovation and Growth Minister Alexander Pulev told a briefing at the Council of Ministers. The zone will cover an area of 290 hectares and will specialize in the automotive industry and related segments.
Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov added that the industrial zone would give a fresh impetus to the automotive sector. In his view, Bulgaria will be able to demonstrate a more active stance.
The zone will be located on the site of the former military airfield in Dobroslavtsi. Quality infrastructure will be built there, including green areas, bicycle lanes and charging stations for electric vehicles. Pulev commented that in the last few months the caretaker government had been engaged in very active dialogue with a number of priority investors from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with a focus on the automotive sector and all related industries. "We are talking about projects ranging from EUR 1.5 billion to 3 billion, which will change the face of the Bulgarian economy and create thousands of jobs," Pulev said.
The Economy Minister said that in the last 10 years, over 300 companies have invested in the automotive industry in Bulgaria, 67,000 people work in it and over 30 development centres have been established.
Stoyanov said the zone will be managed by a subsidiary of the National Company Industrial Zones.
