Council of Ministers approves agreement between Bulgargaz and BOTAS


The Council of Ministers approved the conclusion of an Agreement between Bulgargaz EAD and BOTAS Boru Hatlari ile Petrol Tasima A.S., which provides access to Bulgargaz EAD to terminals for regasification of liquefied natural gas and its subsequent transfer to Bulgaria. 

The positive effect of signing the Agreement and subsequent standard contract for the supply of natural gas with BOTAS is expressed in the long-term provision of capacity for regasification and storage of liquefied natural gas for the needs of Bulgargaz customers in the amount of up to 1.3 billion cubic metres per year.

The agreement provides flexibility for natural gas supplies from 0 to 53,200 MWh on a daily basis, which will ensure significant competitiveness for Bulgargaz on the natural gas market in the region, as well as reduce the risk of losses in balancing during the transmission of natural gas gas. The signing ensures a long-term output capacity product from the gas transmission network of the Republic of Turkiye.

In addition to a positive financial and image benefits for Bulgargaz as an agent of one of the largest natural gas traders in Europe, the conclusion of an agreement between the operators of the gas transmission networks of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Turkiye will lead to additional income for Bulgartransgaz from capacity reservation. The security of natural gas supplies in the country and the region will be guaranteed.
