A delegation led by the Executive Vice President of China Construction Bank (CCB) Mr. Zhang Gengsheng visited BCCI and met with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities for developing bilateral cooperation.
BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov welcomed the delegation and said that the opening of a branch of the Chinese bank in Bulgaria was one of the issues discussed during the visit of the Bulgarian Head of State Rumen Radev to China (1-5 July 2019).
Zhang Gengsheng said that the Declaration of strategic partnership signed several days ago between Bulgaria and China will provide the basis for long-term cooperation in various sectors. He briefly provided information about the history and performance of CCB, which ranks 2nd in the world by asset value (USD 3,376.52 billion).
The President of BCCI thanked the delegation for their visit and shared his satisfaction with the fact that the relations with China are becoming more and more practical. He informed that BCCI is one of the founders of the National Association “One Belt, One Road”, a member of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, and works closely with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria. Simeonov provided information on the advantages of doing business in the country, focusing on the following sectors: manufacturing of automobile parts, construction, pharmacy, cosmetics, agriculture, etc. He said that during his visit to China with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev the issues of a direct airline connection between Bulgaria and China, the construction of a special Chinese industrial zone in Bulgaria, specific port projects, etc. were discussed, which would contribute to the development of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Tsvetan Simeonov defined the meeting as an initial step for acquainting with the economy and business opportunities in Bulgaria. He expressed BCCI’s readiness to support China Construction Bank to enter the Bulgarian market and develop cooperation between Bulgaria and China.
