Bulgaria's trade with Germany reaches record EUR 12 Bln in 2022


Bulgaria's trade with Germany has reached a record EUR 12 billion in 2022, according to the latest data by the German Federal Statistical Office. Trade in goods between the two countries has increased by 22.2% compared to 2021, and Bulgaria ranks 38th in the world in the German trade ranking, the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce says in the latest issue of its bulletin Bulgarien Aktuell.

Bulgaria has exported goods worth EUR 6.7 billion to Germany and now ranks 39th among the importing there. Bulgaria's imports from Germany amount to EUR 5.4 billion, therefore the country ranks 43rd in the list of countries to which Germany exports goods and services. Bulgaria's exports to Germany grew by 26.6% and imports from Germany to Bulgaria increased by 17.1%.

For the seventh time since 1989, Bulgaria has a positive trade balance with Germany. Germany's trade deficit with Bulgaria amounts to EUR 1.3 billion. These record figures have never been achieved before in the history of economic relations between the two countries, the publication points out.
