Bulgaria's National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct continues to popularise OECD Guidelines and related documents

Realising the importance of implementing the OECD Guidelines in the Bulgarian legislation and in view of the successful completion of the accession process, the National Contact Point (NCP) is aiming to acquaint all interested parties with the scope of the Guidelines for multinational enterprises. In this connection, at the beginning of 2025, the NCP members met to present a Report on the activities, accomplished in the past year, and to draw up a Programme for 2025.

In 2024, the NCP sent out to all Bulgarian ministries the OECD Recommendation on the Role of Government in Promoting Responsible Business Conduct with the purpose that the Bulgarian institutions get acquainted with the Recommendation scope.

The OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (the latest version – from December 2024) have also come to the knowledge of the respective organisations as leading global standards which give advice to the governments about better governance of state-owned enterprises.

The NCP was an organiser and participant in many events which aimed at disseminating information on the process of Bulgaria's accession to the OECD. The OECD Sectoral Guidelines on Due Diligence were also translated and published last year.

A representative of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the last meeting of the National Contact Point and together with colleagues from other institutions, hosted by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion, discussed forthcoming events and initiatives during the year. The meeting took into account the Guidelines from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, submitted to Bulgaria in November 2024.
The first big event in 2025 is being prepared for 3 April 2025 in Sofia and will be on the topic of Responsible Business Conduct – the Road of the Entrepreneur.

More information about the event will be published here: https://bulgariancp.bg/.
