Electricity production in Bulgaria increased by 11.50% in the period from 1 January to 9 October compared to the like months of 2021, show Electricity System Operator data. A total of 39,508,275 MWh were produced and 29,224,913 MWh were used in the country, down by 0.62% from 1 January – 9 October 2021.
The trade balance (export-import) went up by 70.63%; however, this indicator drops regularly and in the first half of 2022 it regularly exceeded 100%, the data show.
Base plants produced 33,278,117 MWh of electricity during the period under review, their participation in Bulgaria's electricity production growing by 16.13% year-on-year.
Renewable energy sources' participation in the transmission network increased by 26.1% and in the distribution system, by 15.01%.
Electricity produced by hydroelectric plants registered a drop by 27.46% compared to 1 January – 1 October 2021.
