Bulgaria utilities regulator cuts gas prices by 14.3% for April

Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 14.3 per cent decrease in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of April, setting the new price at 75.08 leva a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.

The price cut is the first after eight consecutive months of increases. Despite the decrease, the price will still be 27.6 per cent higher than during the same month of 2024, when the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) set a price of 58.84 leva a MWh.

Domestic consumption for April will be covered by gas received under the long-term contract with Azerbaijan, which is projected to cover 68.66 per cent of demand, one liquefied natural gas (LNG) delivery, and amounts drawn from the Chiren gas storage facility, EWRC said.
