Seasonally adjusted production in construction increased by 1% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU in October 2024, compared to the previous month, according to first estimates published by Eurostat on Wednesday. In October 2024, production in construction increased by 0.2% in the euro area and decreased by 0.8% in the EU, year-on-year. Among Member States for which data are available, Bulgaria had the third largest annual increase with 6.2%, behind Portugal with 6.9% and Spain with 6.2%.
The largest annual decreases in production in construction were recorded in Romania with -14.5%, Slovenia with -13.4% and Poland with -11.4%.
In the EU, production in construction increased by 0.6% for construction of buildings, by 1.7% for civil engineering and by 0.3% for specialized construction activities, compared with September 2024. Increases in the euro area were 0.7%, 1.6% and 0.5% respectively.
