Bulgaria produced 24.4% of its energy from renewables in 2021


Renewables were the leading source of primary energy production (41%) in EU countries in 2021. This was followed by nuclear (31%), solid fuels (18%), natural gas (6%), crude oil (3%) and other sources (0.2%). That's according to the latest data from the European statistics agency Eurostat, published on its website on Monday.

In Bulgaria, 24.4% of primary energy in 2021 was generated from renewable energy sources. Solid fuels (39.4%) and nuclear energy (35.4%) accounted for the largest share of its production in Bulgaria, according to Eurostat.
