The new Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Sofia visited BCCI



The newly accredited Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Sofia H.E. Fahad Ibrahim Al-Mushairi visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with the President Tsvetan Simeonov.

An overview of the trade and economic relations between the two countries was made, in which the relations between BCCI and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry also play a big role.

Preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy for the first half of 2021 show over 171% growth in trade turnover compared to the same period of 2020. Over 49% growth of Bulgarian exports and over 607% of Bulgarian imports from Qatar. The trade balance is negative, with a decline of almost -168%.

The main goods in our exports for the first half of 2021 included lighting fixtures, illuminated advertising signs and boards, sanitary ware, fittings for pipelines, boilers and tanks, etc.

The main goods in our imports for the first half of 2021 were copper waste and scrap, primary forms polymers of ethylene, motor vehicles, automatic information processing machines, magnetic or optical readers, etc.

The President of BCCI and Ambassador Al-Mushairi agreed to continue the cooperation between the Chamber and the Embassy in order to support contacts and interaction between companies from Bulgaria and Qatar. The diplomat pointed out that in his country there is interest in Bulgarian goods and services from the following sectors: food industry, agriculture, light industry, IT, etc.

Tsvetan Simeonov proposed to organize an information event for companies from both countries, as well as subsequent bilateral business meetings to promote trade, economic and investment contacts.
