Meeting with the Minister of State for Food Security of UAE

The Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov met with H.E. Mrs. Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, Minister of State for Food Security of the United Arab Emirates who was on an official visit to Bulgaria.

Vasil Todorov presented the activity of BCCI as an active non-governmental and employers’ organization with strong regional structure, providing specific services to the business community.

The Minister of State said that she was in charge of providing the population with healthy food which can be traced from the farms to the shops.

The BG Barcode application was presented, which allows consumers to quickly receive precise information about the manufacturer/importer of a specific product, its nutritional information, as well as additional information provided by the manufacturer.

The Secretary General of BCCI outlined several sectors of mutual interest for the businesses from Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates: agriculture, food industry, IT, cosmetic industry, etc.

H.E. Mrs. Mariam Al Mehairi said that the UAE market needs bio products and announced that after the meetings she had with representatives of the Bulgarian state, it was negotiated to organize a bilateral forum Bulgaria – UAE in the beginning of next year. It will serve as the initial platform through which the two governments will open widely the doors to new business initiatives. BCCI will support the events and will additionally inform about the specific dates of its holding.
