BCCI attended the European Economic and Social Committee Plenary Session
At the European Commission in Brussels yesterday the regular session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) began. The session which was attended by the BCCI's Vice-President Georgi Stoev, was opened with the speech by Valery Giscard d'Estaing, former President of the French Republic. He presented his views and plans for a more integrated Europe, as explained in his book "Europa: the last chance for Europe", prefaced by former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
The plenary session continued with a debate on the "Prospects for the EU", which on Bulgarian part was attended by the President of the Economic and Social Council - Lalko Dulevski, BCCI's Vice-President Georgi Stoev and other representatives of the employers' organisations and trade unions.
The 502nd plenary session adopted some opinions on "The role of civil society in the negotiation and implementation of an EU‑Japan free trade agreement".
Among the reports and topics debated in the session were: Report on Competition Policy 2013; Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the dissemination of Earth observation satellite data for commercial purposes; Governance of macro-regional strategies; Opening of the European aviation market for secure and sustainable civil use of remote-controlled aircraft systems; Innovation in the Blue Economy - realising the potential of seas and oceans for jobs and growth.
