Her Excellency Jasna Ognjanovac, Croatia's newly appointed ambassador to Bulgaria, discussed the economic relations between the two countries with the President of the Chamber, Tsvetan Simeonov. Although the relations between Bulgaria and Croatia are excellent, active work is needed to intensify them, said Simeonov. Ambassador Ognianovac, in turn, said she would do everything necessary to introduce and represent the best Croatian companies on the Bulgarian market - producers of wine, cosmetics, food and more. Reliable Bulgarian importers of the above products concerned are being sought.
Ognjanovac also shared information on the intentions of a large Croatian company operating in the food industry sector and which is about to open a representative office in Bulgaria. The company is looking for Bulgarian raw materials - in particular vegetables.
Simeonov emphasized that there is a huge potential in the tourism field, but up to this moment there is no direct flight between the capitals of the two countries. Only Dubrovnik, Varna and Burgas are connected to charter flights.
The President of BCCI acquainted HE Ognjanovac with the Chamber's activities and services and stressed that the organization supports any initiative that benefits the business.
The upcoming Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union from January 2020 was also discussed during the conversation. Ambassador Ognianovac acknowledged that it would be linked to many challenges, such as the new European Commission, Brexit, etc.
It was agreed, within the meeting held at the Chamber, a bilateral business forum to be organized in 2020 in Bulgaria.
