The event is being prepared from BCCI together with the Embassy of Vietnam in Sofia and the Ministry of Economy and Industry within the framework of the 24th session of the Bulgarian-Vietnamese Joint Commission for Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. The meeting will be held on May 14, 2024 /Tuesday/ from 9:30 a.m. in the building of the BCCI/Sofia, 9/ "Iskar" Str., Hall A, floor 1.
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a traditional partner of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Southeast Asian region. According to data from the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Bulgaria's exports mainly consist of wheat, medicines, chemical products, integrated circuits and electronic microcomponents, insecticides, medical instruments, food products, enzymes, hydraulic turbines, kaolin, etc. Imports consist of vehicle parts, iron and steel products, chemical materials, coffee, tires and rubber, coconuts and other food processing products, footwear, etc.
During the working meeting, the commercial and economic relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam will be discussed and the current conditions for doing business in both countries will be presented, including the advantages provided by the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam. The agreement has been in force since August 1, 2020. It removes tariffs, red tape and other obstacles that European businesses face when exporting to Vietnam. It also facilitates trade in basic goods such as electronics, food and pharmaceuticals, and opens Vietnam's market to EU exports of services, such as transport and telecommunications.
