A Bulgarian-Korean energy forum was held


The event organized by the "Atlantic Club in Bulgaria" was attended by the newly appointed ambassador of the Republic of Korea to our country H.E. PhD. Bae Jongin, government ministers, MPs, energy experts, etc.

The South Korean ambassador emphasized the similarities in the energy challenges facing Bulgaria and South Korea. Both countries are dependent on fossil fuels, but at the same time they are nuclear states with ambitious development projects in this sector. He expressed a desire for cooperation in the field of energy between the two countries, including in the field of RES.

Deputy the Minister of Energy Krasimir Nenov highlighted the important priorities and tasks before the Ministry, including updating the key Integrated Plan in the field of energy and climate, correcting the projects for territorial plans for a just transition and drawing up a vision for the renegotiation of the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability with the European Commission.

The Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov reported that our country has personnel, infrastructure, strategic location and opportunities that, if used, can establish Bulgaria as a hub for the development of energy storage systems in Europe and technologies of the future.

Within the framework of the event, the newly appointed South Korean ambassador to our country H.E. Bae Jongin announced that the dilemmas facing the sustainable green transition could no longer be postponed. He recalled that Bulgaria is a pioneer in the use of solar energy and announced that his country would be happy to cooperate with ours in the fields of green hydrogen production and in the nuclear energy sector.
