At a meeting with H.E. Christoph Eichhorn, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bulgaria, Tsvetan Simeonov presented him with the honorary baton of the EU Club at the BCCI. It is traditionally handed over to an ambassador to Bulgaria, whose country holds the presidency of the Council of the EU.
Ambassador Eichhorn has already presented the priorities of the German Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2020 during an online event organized by BCCI. At the current live meeting held at the Chamber, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, Ambassador Eichhorn and Hubertus Klink, Head of the Commercial Section of the German Embassy in Sofia, discussed ideas for development of the bilateral economic relations Bulgaria – Germany.
Simeonov acquainted the diplomats with the priorities of the BCCI and the directions in its activity in the period 2019-2023, which aim at a more favorable environment for the Bulgarian entrepreneurship; increasing the competitiveness of the goods and services produced and provided by Bulgarian entrepreneurs; development of existing forms of flexible employment, as well as stimulating youth employment; regulating migration and improving the conditions for import of labor in the country; stable development of the Bulgarian economy; stimulating the investment activity, and increasing foreign investments in Bulgaria.
Ambassador Eichhorn shared the view that digitalisation and innovation will play an increasing role in achieving these goals, some of which are pan-European.
The conversation also focused on the good cooperation at the level of chambers of commerce and industry between the BCCI, the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
