Enterprise Europe Network at BCCI hosted the second EU Club meeting for the year to discuss the achievements of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the assumption of the Presidency by the Republic of Austria.
Ekaterina Zaharieva - Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lilyana Pavlova – Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2018, H.E. Roland Hauser – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Bulgaria, and the Mayor of Sofia – Yordanka Fandakova took part in the meeting.
The event attracted the interest of diplomats, representatives of the media, the business circles and the non-governmental organizations in the country. It was officially opened by the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, who presented the numerous initiatives carried out in the last six months in which the business and employers’ organizations were the main factor and engine.
The panellists presented the results achieved during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Bulgaria received high praise for its work as a President of the Council of the EU. More than 1500 work meetings, over 100 sessions of the Council of the EU, and more than 160 trialogue meetings were held during the Presidency with the participation of more than 94 000 people. During the period, Sofia was visited by over 524 000 foreign guests. The Bulgarian Presidency was accompanied by a number of cultural events under the auspices of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, Sofia Municipality, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The EU Club meeting ended with a presentation of the priorities of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU under the motto “A Europe that protects”.
